Welcome To The Home Of

Paul Annis

Drummer, Teacher,
Audio Production

With over 30 years drumming experience, 15 years teaching and 10 years running a small studio I can teach you how to play and record the drums!

From beginners to the experienced, we never stop learning.

Want to get the best out of your recording setup?

Whether it’s with 1, 2 or 20 microphones you’d be amazed at what you can achieve with a little knowledge and simple understanding of drum recording.

The Studio - aka "The Pit"

The teaching and recording environment is fully air-conditioned giving all students and clients a comfortable and relaxed experience come rain or shine.

The Kit & Gear

2 Gretsch Brooklyn kits grace the studio (Little & Large) with various cymbals from Zildjian and Meinl. I’ve used many microphones over the years and have now adopted a modern approach using a single type for the bulk of microphones used (Slate Digital ML-2). Using these, and microphone emulation technology, gives way more flexibility in post production and some amazing results.  Logic Pro is my DAW of choice combined with RME preamps and interfaces.

Jam along with students!

As lessons progress musicality is a big part of learning and there is no better way that jamming along with some bass guitar to help develop your groove and feel.

Record yourself!

With a multi camera setup why not create your own videos to share or use to promote yourself. It’s also a great way to track your progress.

Projects & Bands

A High energy trio with weighty riffs and a sci-fi vibe, rock, stoner rock, prog rock, there’s all sorts in the melting pot which gives GV a unique vibe. I met up with Dan & Marco from Gramma Vedetta at the end of the summer in 2021 and haven’t looked back! We’re a serious band but most of all its fun!  Check us out here on Bandcamp or here for YouTube

Mates for many years, the38s cover a vast array of tunes. Rock, Pop and Funk from the 60’s,70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s and on. A good fun party band with many a happy function under our belts over the last 15 years.

From drum sessions for clients, mixing and mastering, YouTube videos, to projects with mates, there’s always something brewing in ‘the pit’. Here’s a cover tune I worked on for a friend during the lockdowns.
